Sellex is an international design and manufacturing company specializing in crafting tailored furniture for public spaces. Their Aero Bench was used to furnish the renovated East Wing of Geneva International Airport.
Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP) architecture studio remodeled the East Wing of Geneva International Airport, an important communication hub in the Central Europe region. The project marked a significant upgrade in passenger comfort and operational adaptability, reinforcing its strategic position as the gateway to the city, as it replaced the 1970s temporary facilities. The designers entrusted Sellex with furnishing the new waiting areas using their characteristic Aero Bench.
RSHP sought furnishing that aligned with the project's design vision principles, such as structural composition and sustainability. The new East Wing is enclosed in a metallic exoskeleton that combines with the Sellex Aero Bench's streamlined silhouette. The durable metallic materials and high-quality upholstery that constitute the bench were also key features that aligned with the efficiency and durability that characterized the rest of the project. The Aero Bench is made from extruded aluminum profiles with a grooved surface and stainless steel laser-cut end caps.
Sellex extensive customization options were instrumental in the selection of over 250 Aero Benches. The upholstery became part of the project's visual language, with benches in blue, green, yellow, orange, red, grey, and purple differentiating each zone.
