Circularlights from VELUX Commercial were used in the Omnia and Wageningen University & Research (WUR) Centre. The research center is a CO₂ neutral building in the Netherlands. Described as a ‘pavilion on the green’ by Broekbakema Architects, this striking multipurpose space invites open-minded discussions at a venue that brings people together to share ideas in conferences and meetings, celebrate graduations, hold events, and develop through professional education.
Design Concept
Central to the design was creating a connection to the outdoors. 90 percent floor-to-ceiling window facades and roof glazing allow daylight to enter the building and light up spaces. A total of 14 fixed single round roof lights from VELUX Commercial help daylight penetrate deep into spaces such as narrow corridors, reception, and conference rooms.
Benefits
- Bespoke glass roof lights prefabricated for the building
- Reducing energy consumption due to natural ventilation and daylight from the skylights
- Maximizing daylight penetration to narrow spaces
- The round shape provides a unique and stylish appearance
- There are no frames visible from the inside
