Solid Douglas wood flooring from Dinesen was used in a private home. Lying on the slope of a hill, on the shores of Lake Lugano, the villa consists of two volumes organized on different levels due to the particular topography of the site. A polygonal-shaped glass pavilion with rounded edges stands above a linear underground block.
Villa Design
The living and dining room, kitchen, and storage spaces are located in the pavilion, while bedrooms, bathrooms, and garage are on the lower level. Each level has its own independent outdoor space that is closely related to the interiors.
The glass pavilion overlooks two defined areas. The first is toward the mountain creating a private space, the second is a garden overlooking the lake. The house was designed with attention to environmental aspects to optimize the thermal efficiency of the shell while maximizing the use of natural light.
Douglas Planks
Solid Wood Douglas planks from Dinesen are used for the flooring of most of the space. The bedroom includes wood panelling on one wall, while to stairs are finished fully in Douglas wood.
