Solid Heart Oak Floors from Dinesen were used in a rooftop apartment in Copenhagen. The 150m2 Attic Apartment was designed using bold architectural interventions to implement more natural light and create a greater sense of space.
Apartment Design
To create a bright spacious home, the interior was designed with a double-height living area that included exposed rafters. Adding to the new sense of height, the original arched windows were elongated. Large bi-folding glass doors completely open up the combined kitchen and dining space to a second terrace which feels like an extension of the room. The high quality of the Dinesen floor allowed for such interventions to be undertaken while ensuring the integrity of the interior.
Local Materials
Designed by Studio David Thulstrup, the client was inspired by the Studio's interior concept for the noma Restaurant and admired the application of natural local materials for the interior. This included the DinesenHeart Oak planks. This concept was carried throughout the interior of the apartment, with similar materiality found in various elements such as the furniture.
