Characteristics
Neatly translates, organises elements, easier collaboration
The Revit Importer tool for SketchUp Studio enhances their interoperable modeling experience. By connecting SketchUp to Revit. Removing hours from the Revit-to-SketchUp workflow, the new import feature allows users to accurately and efficiently convert Revit models into SketchUp geometry. This allows for a deeper collaboration across project phases, teams, and stakeholders. The tool replaces the need for various workarounds that are currently used to report Revit models to SketchUp, while saving time, creating a more accurate geometry conversion, and creating much lighter models.
Neat Translation
The model structures between Revit and SketchUp are preserved meaning families and layers from Revit are neatly translated into groups, components, and tags in SketchUp. This saves hours or even days of model cleanup as well as preserved accuracy.
Benefits
- Improve collaboration with project stakeholders who create Revit deliverables
- Preserve model structures between software for less cleanup
- Move Revit models into SketchUp to iterate new ideas quickly
- Build efficiencies; The imported Revit file is automatically optimized for easier geometry manipulation in SketchUp and significantly reduces file size
- Create compelling visuals; Revit material colors and transparencies are respected during import to speed up visualization workflows
- Translate Revit levels to SketchUp section planes
Function Availability
The Revit Importer is a native function in SketchUp's desktop app. It is available to all users with a Studio subscription and is updated to the 2023 version. Users with Pro subscriptions can install the Revit Importer in SketchUp 2023 and initiate a trial to test the feature. No Revit license is required.
