More about this product

Cascade Coil offers Certified Blast & Projectile Protection Systems that are Full-Scale Blast, Wind Pressure, and Large Missile Impact Tested. These Cascade Coil systems are designed and constructed to avoid loss of life and serious injury while still maintaining all the aesthetic features.

Cascade Coil‘s patented and approved blast and projectile protection systems include Guardian Grade Fabricoil® wire mesh strategically positioned with engineered attachment hardware to catch and contain debris or projectiles in the event of an explosion or destructive high-wind events. The systems allow natural light to penetrate a space and give occupants an unobstructed view of the outside.

Weaves Fabricoil® weaves share the same fundamental geometry, created by interlocking individual strands of spiraled wire. What varies widely is Fabricoil®’s scale. The chosen weave impacts the material’s percentage of open area (from 40% to 85%), textured appearance, thickness (from 3/32” to 1/2”), wire gauge (from 14 to 21), and ultimate strength
Fullnes Fabricoil® can create a billowing drapery effect by using more material than what is required to cover a given area. This effect is called "fullness" and is expressed as a percentage of additional material. The acceptable range for fullness is 15-200%

Blast Protection

Guardian Grade Fabricoil® wire mesh is the core of these GSA-approved and DHS-certified systems. This product flexes in a ductile, predictive, and repeatable way to absorb the force of the projectile or blast, instead of transmitting this force into the structural building components where it can harm people and property. The system spreads forces to larger surface areas to harmlessly divert energy and hazardous debris away from personnel and critical structural systems.

Retrofit Application

The system can be seamlessly integrated into existing buildings, while enhancing aesthetics and improving occupant safety. Extreme loads, like blast-induced, generate significant structural demands that most buildings are not designed to withstand. Instead, most blast-resistant structures are designed to provide an acceptable level of protection based on the importance and use of that specific facility, allowing for a corresponding level of damage.

Building owners need to retrofit these existing structures to create a safer environment, but complete exterior replacements are typically too costly. As a viable and cost-effective alternative, catcher systems like Cascade Coil's Guardian Grade Fabricoil® Systems mitigate the hazardous debris from failed facade components before they penetrate the interior space and harm building occupants.
