A new home, built along the shores of Attersee Austria installed kitchen equipment from Gaggenau to continue the minimalist modern theme.
House Design
Homeowner, Norbert Hartl gave the task of the design of his new idyllic home to five architect friends. The concept of a modern yet timeless residence was created, and taken to the final built stage with the architectural firm Architekturbüro F2. The interior designer Martin Steininger selected Dekton®, a sophisticated mixture of over 20 natural minerals as the main interior feature, wanting to use it in ambitious applications. This included floors, kitchen surfaces, stairs, external cladding, and exterior and interior use. The final aesthetic is a minimalist design interior space.
Kitchen Design
Matching the minimalism of the house, it was important to hide all appliances from view, concealing everything functional with 'pocket' doors that open 90º and slide into a narrow gap between the units. The effect is of a wall opening to reveal a kitchen. The owner simultaneously found a newfound love for cooking, using the vacuuming drawer to preserve wild game, and slowly cooking it in the warming drawer.
A separate area alongside the kitchen-in-disguise houses Gaggenau fridges and wine climate cabinets. Everything is within easy reach, whether baking, microwaving, steaming, warming, sous-viding, or using the flex induction. The cooktop’s downdraft extractor is the secret hero for the open plan room, removing vapor, aromas, and heat at the source. The owner visited Gaggenau's Vienna showroom following which he selected the brand for his appliances.
