Choosing the right retractable solutions according to climate conditions depends on different factors such as the type of weather and technical properties of the products. ShadeFX has the right solution to keep customers covered, whether sun, rain, or wind. This guide by ShadeFX focuses on how to get reliable protection for different types of climates.
ShadeFX’s Solutions
Climate | Solutions |
Arid Climate | To get protection from the sun, products with UV resistance and high UPF protection are recommended. ShadeFX catalog offers the Sunbrella line, which has both characteristics. Its fabric fibers are saturated with highly UV-stable pigments. The shade fabric is high in UPF protection, as recommended by The Skin Cancer Foundation, and is breathable, allowing air to pass through them, creating a comfortable space underneath. Furthermore, the fabric is fade-resistant and includes a no-fade warranty. |
Stormy Climate | For a stormy climate, it is important to have in mind the level of water protection of the retractable solutions. The product must also be made of water-resistant, water-repellent, or waterproof fabrics. ShadeFX’s fabrics have all these characteristics. ShadeFX’s patented single-track technology produces a peak at the center of the fabric, forcing precipitation off to either side of the system. This method prevents rainwater from pooling in the center, and after the skies are clear, the system can be retracted without the threat of rotting or developing mold. |
Windy Climate | ShadeFX’s retractable solutions are engineered to hold up against windy conditions. Each product has been tested to withstand up to 80+ mph winds. To provide a comparison, that is similar to the wind rating of a Category 1 Hurricane which has sustained winds from 74-95 mph. ShadeFX recommends that shades be retracted during higher winds or winds constantly exceeding 35mph, especially when not in use. |
Snowy Climate | When the temperatures begin to drop, it is time to remove the canopies or retract the roofs. Although the system should withstand cold weather conditions like light flurries, it is not engineered to bear a snow load. ShadeFX recommends that the canopy fabric be removed and stored over the winter. If customers decide to keep their system up, it should not be operated in freezing temperatures. It’s best to keep it retracted and covered. For the retractable roof, it is suggested that the roof simply be retracted and not operated during freezing temperatures. |
