Ceramic Curtain Facade on Roskilde Carpark | Flexbrick

The Roskilde Carpark uses a modern high-tech approach to integrating the traditional red brick aesthetic found in the city which also allows for the vertical growth of plants. To achieve this the Flexbrick ceramic fabric was directly applied to a prefabricated concrete structure. The solution allows natural light and ventilation to enter the interior space, avoiding additional costs required for mechanical ventilation.

A custom ceramic piece that imitates red brick was installed in the system. Its specific form allows for sunlight to play on the surface, changing the overall appearance of the facade throughout the day. The use of live vegetation along the lattices and integrated into the ceramic fabric brings the surface to life. The project was managed by both Årstiderne Arkitekter and MOE Consultant.
