More about this product

Lamberts manufactures cast glass which is glass formed by rolling processes. The company uses state-of-the-art machinery and is a leading factory of high-quality architectural glass with the lowest CO2 emissions. Linit® Ecoglass, a profiled glass from Lamberts, was used in the Gate Building, a building on Gate Avenue in the Dubai International Financial Centre, United Arab Emirates.

Gate Avenue is an impressive 880-meter promenade lined with shops and restaurants, leading into a triumphal arch. Designed after the iconic Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe in Paris, it serves as the entry point to the financial district. The Gate Building, situated at the avenue's end, is the headquarters of the DIFC, featuring the world's most renowned financial institutions. The building is on an axis with Dubai's iconic Emirates Towers and World Trade Centre.

RMJM architects expanded the axis by installing three glass versions of the Gate on Gate Avenue. These structures pay homage to the Gate Building and extend the DIFC's trademark across the entire area. Backlit with changing colors at night, they are visible from a distance and link the 660,000-square-foot promenade level to the shops below via stairs. The architects were tasked with creating a distinctive cultural experience in the region with Gate Avenue at DIFC, which would enrich the lives of residents and visitors alike with retail and dining options.

Gate Avenue is a retail environment that comprises three interconnected zones, connected by the promenade level. The North Zone, located near the Gate Building, serves as a meeting place for business executives and features high-end, exclusive retail outlets. The Central Zone, which is connected to the DIFC metro, houses shops that offer premium branded products and multiple restaurants, both indoor and outdoor. The South Zone, primarily residential, features a two-story complex that provides a welcoming community experience. The planted promenade level is adorned with lush greenery, shaded structures, and kiosks.

For this project, LINIT® EcoGlass P 40/80/7 in a low iron, cord, TCH (toughened, color ceramic frit, heat-soak-test) version and LINIT® EcoGlass P 40/80/7 in a low iron, cord, W1.7, TH (toughened, heat-soak-test) version were used.
