More about this product

Lamberts manufactures cast glass which is glass formed by rolling processes. The company uses state-of-the-art machinery and is a leading factory of high-quality architectural glass with the lowest CO2 emissions. Linit® Ecoglass, a profiled glass from Lamberts, was used in the restoration of The Bishop’s Basilica of Philippopolis, Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

The Bishop's Basilica of Philippopolis in present-day Plovdiv, Bulgaria, is an exceptional cultural heritage site situated atop an archaeological site dating back to Roman antiquity and spanning the Middle Ages. Discovered during rescue archaeological excavations, the basilica was constructed on the ruins of prior monumental structures and operated from the mid-4th century until the conclusion of the 6th century. Subsequently, a Christian necropolis was established on its remains during the Middle Ages.

With a length of approximately 83 meters and a width of around 36 meters, the Bishop's Basilica of Philippopolis stands as Bulgaria's largest basilica from the 4th-6th century, one of the largest in the Balkans. Offering priceless insights into the history of early Christianity, this unique site recently opened its visitor center in April 2021, showcasing over 2,000 sq.m. of Roman mosaics from the IV-VI century AD on two levels. The restoration project for the Bishop's Basilica commenced in 2014.

For this project, LINIT® EcoGlass P 26/60/7 in a 504, TH (toughened, heat-soak-test) version was used.
