Holcim is a manufacturer of innovative and sustainable building solutions in global markets. Today, the construction sector represents 38% of the world’s CO₂ emissions. One-third of this footprint occurs in the building phase while buildings in use generate the remainder. On its net-zero journey, Holcim is committed to decarbonizing buildings, addressing climate change, driving a circular economy, and improving living standards. Holcim offers sustainable building solutions such as ECOPact, a broad range of low-carbon concrete that can reduce CO₂ emissions by at least 30% compared to the market reference, without compromising performance.
Engineered to meet a variety of requirements and applications, from infrastructure to homes, ECOPact delivers high-performing, sustainable, and circular benefits.
Materials
ECOPact from Holcim is engineered with innovative low-emission materials such as calcined clay. It is produced locally and it is fully recyclable, enabling circular construction. ECOPact+ from Holcim includes recycled construction and demolition waste (CDW) where norms allow, combining a low-carbon footprint with circular benefits. Its sustainability profile is matched by its overall performance, workability, and quality.
Application
ECOPact mix designs can be used in a wide range of structural components and can be easily handled, pumped, and finished like conventional concrete. ECOPact is suitable for foundations, columns, beams, walls, driveways, and walkways among other applications. It is available in a variety of strength classes and is compliant with industry standards.

ECOPact Application | - For the mass concrete foundations pour, 4,200 cubic yards of ECOPact were delivered over a span of 15 hours—totaling 711,000 kilograms of CO₂ reductions
- The team partnered with the client and developed two proprietary ECOPact design mixes containing 20% recycled materials
- These innovative mixes were designed to reduce the global warming potential (GWP) by 35 to 50% compared to standard concrete
- The project’s AgileFlow mixes used innovative cement blended with Silica Fumes. These self-consolidating mixes helped optimize job site concrete placement, while also providing a 24% CO₂ reduction compared to a standard concrete baseline

ECOPact Application | HRS Real Estate AG used a product innovation from Holcim Switzerland: ECOPact+, a resource-saving and low-CO₂ concrete The innovative formula of ECOPact+ includes local recycled aggregates instead of natural gravel, as well as ECOPlanet Susteno, a resource-saving cement with up to 20% construction and demolition waste inside. For this project, 3,000 m3 of ECOPact+ were used. For 1,000 m3 of concrete, the remaining CO₂ was offset with certified climate projects. |
