More about this product

The Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall in Hamburg acts as a public space with a large flow of visitors. Access systems from dormakaba were installed to control the flow and restrict access where needed. These solutions were installed in the large public Plaza on the ground floor.

Access control systems in the Plaza of the Elbphilharmonie concert hall

Solutions installed included

  • Sensor barriers to control the general flow
  • Ticket scanners to manage visitor access
  • General building access that is spacious and secure
  • Barrier-free solutions throughout the building
  • Customized solutions to meet specific requirements

System Solution for the Plaza

The Plaza has up to 16,000 visitors passing through daily. Safety and fire standards only allow 1,200 visitors in the Plaza at once. To accommodate this a ticket access control system was installed, where visitors can book tickets online or upon arrival.

The ticketing and access control system by ADITUS was selected for installation. This ensured that the system was both efficient and secure. Flow control and camera metering were also installed to monitor the number of visitors within the space.

Entrance Doors

dormakaba is well-experienced in providing access control solutions to more high-end buildings requirements. The dormakaba specialists specified the Kerberos stainless steel turning locks as their custom design is slightly wider than usual. This creates a more comfortable access point for all occasions such as evening attire.

Disabled Entrance

For disabled visitors, five Argus sensor airlocks with an automatic door element were installed. This creates a barrier-free entry point that is comfortable and contactless for persons in wheelchairs or pushchairs. To ensure the aesthetic appeal was maintained, sensor airlocks with photoelectric barrier sensors were installed. The standard dimensions were adapted to the measurements requested by the planner and the client.
