Project Design
Situated above the Arctic Circle, the harsh beauty of the surrounding environment offers a retreat to connect with nature and disconnect from reality. Designed by Snorre Stinessen, the building would blend in with the surroundings and highlight the coexistence of nature with the structure. The result was a technically complex, ambitious design consisting of lightweight and slim materials that are also able to withstand strong winds and large snow loads.
Kitchen Design
The kitchen acts as the main social space. The plan of the kitchen is designed to match the form of the landscape, creating a challenge to incorporate the functional and aesthetic aspects of the interiors. Part of the solution included appliances from Gaggenau as they seamlessly fit within the other elements of the kitchen.
These were incorporated into the central island of the kitchen. An EB333 Oven paired with the Vario 400 Series downdraft ventilation and induction and gas cooktop was placed at one end of the island, and a fridge-freezer and wine climate cabinet from the Cooling series created a central pillar at the other end of the island.
