Iroko Cladding
Tantimber ThermoWood iroko wood is known for its naturally long service life. These qualities are enhanced by the thermal modification process, resulting in an end-product that is not only appealing but long-lasting even in outdoor applications.
By utilizing the ThermoWood process, the natural propensity for iroko wood to expand and contract is minimum. Iroko has significant color differences which are smoothed out with thermal modification. Iroko cladding provides a preferable alternative to endangered teak wood, because of its durability and aesthetic characteristics.
Properties
The ThermoWood process refines and modifies wood transforming its structure into a stable and durable configuration, preventing expanding, contracting, twisting, and cupping. Tantimber products have a low moisture content, meaning they don't deform due to seasonal temperature changes, making them virtually impervious to insects, fungi, and bacteria that can cause decay.
Thermal Modification Process
ThermoWood minimizes the dehumidification and deformation behavior of timber by raising the internal temperature of the wood above 392º F in a controlled process. As a result, the deformation, warping, and splitting associated with other dehumidification processes are minimized. Because of the thermal modification process, Tantimber products are suitable for outdoor and wet-area applications. They are available in a wide range of sizes and cross-section profiles.
