Building Systems in SEEK Headquarters | Studco

The new SEEK headquarters, situated in Melbourne Australia breaks away from the traditional modern office tower, which was made possible by incorporating steel framing systems from Studco. The design consists of seven stories that are crafted to suit the shifting needs of its employees.
The building achieved a 6-star Green Star rating and was recognized as an outstanding accomplishment of commercial architecture at the 2022 Victorian Architecture Awards. Studco’s engineering service, installation, and expedient construction can be recognized as part of reaching this achievement, by helping Hassell’s vision come to life.

Studco’s Products and Services Used

• The internal walls – throughout the tower’s seven floors made use of the Studco Steel Stud and Track frame, creating a structural frame for the masonry. The wall systems spanned across varying scales, including wall heights up to 4000mm. A range of Studco products was included in the wall framing system, including nogging tracks, nogging brackets, and slotted deflection head tracks.
  
  
• The Studco Logistics Team – handled the delivery of the framing systems, through consistent communication with on-site parties. Studco delivered and accounted for all specified wall types.
  
  
• The Studco Technical Team - provided a tailored construction engineering solution. The Studco engineering documents specified each wall type and ceiling detail that included fixing and connection detailed drawings. All wall and ceiling steel framing was engineered to meet the building's seismic design criteria.

Studco Solutions in SEEK HQ

• Versatile Spaces – designed to accommodate the different needs of the SEEK team, sliding floor-to-ceiling whiteboards can merge to form dividing walls and create a separate space when needed. This was achieved with the help of Studco’s Technical team, their service ensured framing was installed correctly and remained on hand for any on-site queries.
  
  
• A Standalone Pod – was built on top of the building’s roof pitch as a kitchen for employees. This innovative design makes use of Studco’s HEDA Jamb, offering a fast way to create openings in both internal and external walls. The HEDA jamb’s labor-efficient formation of lintel and sill eliminated the need for boxed studs altogether. Paired with this is the uncompromising design as the size of these wall openings did not have to be minimized for technical purposes – this allowed for the large fridge doors along with the aluminum trim laced around its edges. The HEDA connection created significant wall openings whilst supporting the structural integrity of the pod.
  
  
• Ceiling Solutions – Where used in the building’s offices and discussion rooms. Designed to appear as free-standing structures, the individual spaces serve as insular pods for employees and teams. Part of these designs included mirror panels placed above the pod, reflecting the exposed concrete slab. This was made possible by using Stud Ceiling and set-back Bulkhead Framing supplied and engineered by Studco. Meticulous plans informed the best possible ceiling and bulkhead installations with reference to the internal servicing above them.
