Limpido Benches in Znojmo Public Space | mmcité

In the city of Znojmo is a site near the 11th-century Rotunda of St. Catherine and the Gothic Church of St. Nicholas, and a wine bar with tasting area designed by Chybík & Kryštof. The spot is a renowned tourist stop for wine and architecture enthusiasts alike. The bar is located in a converted 19th-century brewery and adjacent technical building that was added in the 1970s. The enoteca is a beautiful example of the conversion of old industrial buildings into new, additional, uses.

The site is an example of the diverse historical and architectural layers of the city. In this distinctive spot, the architects applied an individual conceptual strategy to the renovation of both buildings to reflect their structural and functional history with the ambition to push conventional notions of building renovation; and furnished the space with mmcité’s Limpido benches designed by Roman Vrtiška, becoming a symbolic link between the historic and modern architecture.
