In 2013, the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome roof, home of the Minnesota Vikings, collapsed due to heavy snow loads. Throughout a 30-month reconstruction period, a high bar was set for the project's structural and interior design elements. Thus, 3M™ collaborated with the architectural team to create a space that both fans and players would be proud of.
In 2016, the U.S. Bank Stadium opened to the public covering a striking 1.75 million square feet, with impressive features such as a 60% clear roof and the five largest pivoting doors in the world.
Design Concept
One of the primary opportunities for rebuilding the stadium was to improve the fan experience. The achieve this, various 3M™ products were used for a variety of spaces and applications, to ensure durability while recalling the Viking aesthetic of the previous stadium.
