The Tullibody South Campus is an educational center which offers diverse community facilities. Built in 2019 with architects from Keppie Design, the building was created to accommodate over 700 students under the age of 11. To create inviting and comfortable learning spaces, 55 modules of the VELUX Modular Skylight system were incorporated which distribute ample natural light throuought the complex.
Design Concept
A primary goal in the design of this campus was to provide sufficient daylight and natural ventilation within the large central area for the hundreds of students to have an enjoyable learning experience. Thus, with the help of VELUX, the Ridgelight, Longlight, and Northlight window systems were selected to apply this design mission in versatile spaces.
The 55 Ridgelight panels were installed in pitched roof areas and solved a number of design problems, including satisfying the smoke clearance requirements of the tiered seating area with a 27° pitch. 55 Northlight panels were installed in sloped roof locations to bring daylight into unique conditions. Finally, the 55 wall-mounted Longlight panels were used to create various wall-to-ceiling connections.
