When working through the plumbing considerations of any building, an architect or designer may need to specify a lifting station to dispose of greywater and blackwater where gravity-fed drainage to the sewer is not an option. What are the most pertinent questions to be asked when specifying such a unit; capacity, power, maceration, alarms?
Saniflo offers a range of lifting station solutions to suit a range of needs, we outline the primary considerations below:
Connections
One of the primary considerations is how many sanitary fittings need to be accommodated. This will be one of the determining factors for the capacity and size of the lifting station that will be needed. Typically lifting stations accommodate multiple WCs, wastewater from a kitchen, vanity, bathroom, and laundry. The Lifting station requires a range of inlet options to accommodate different fixtures.
Power
The number and power of motors go hand in hand with the connections to determine the overall capacity and size of the required lifting station. A lifting station suited to small domestic applications like granny flats and tiny homes such as Saniflo's Sanicubic 1 WP has 1 x 1500W motor, where the Sanicubic 2 XL, uses heavy-duty, twin 2000w motors, vortex technology for high volume residential and commercial situations such as hospitality, shopping centres, multi-storey and mixed-use commercial projects.
Vortex & Maceration
Before being discharged to the sewer, wastewater is processed through various means to enable it to pass through the 40mm discharge pipe to the sewer. Depending on the type of application, this can be done through blades or a vortex system.
