With stunning views of the Bay through floor-to-ceiling windows, the Grand Hyatt at SFO is one of EnFold Façade, a sub-division of BŌK Modern’s earliest and iconic rainscreen façade projects that facilitated the standardization of this popular product. Conveniently located at the entrance to SFO, the hotel is easily accessed from all terminals by AirTrain and road.
EnFold Façade’s rainscreen systems were applied through a cladding technique in a tricolor kynar spectrum for visual interest and architectural transitions. Selected by HWI Architects, the panels were easy to install and cost-competitive compared to alternative rainscreen systems. The large-face install was seamless; and in overcoming incremental creeps, the focus on the base of the elevation allowed upward install to be easy. Interspersed randomly to create depth, freshness, and complexity, BŌK Modern's EnFold Façade panels vary in heights and widths for this unique project.
BŌK Modern Enfold Façade rainscreen systems were tweaked to fit perfectly around the gently curving wall of the new SFO Grand Hyatt. The stunning panels are on full-display to every visitor as they approach the SFO airport. With the unique, staggered, multicolored curving face, this business and hospitality epicenter elevates first impressions of San Francisco as a modern destination for local and international travel.
Product System Used
- Rainscreen
EnFold Façade’s patented rainscreen system is unique to the façade market. As a structurally integrated metal panel system, rainscreens are non-flammable, solid-sheet metal, single-skin panels, contrary to composites. The panels can be solid, base-reliefs, or custom laser-cut to specifications in aluminum or weathering steel, and custom-formed through EnFold Façades’ offerings of 3-dimensional configurations. Finishes include Kynar, powder coating, anodized aluminum, and rusted surface (Cor-ten) steel.
