Sika high-performance sealing and bonding solutions were used in the new Divadlo Theatre in the Czech Republic. The project comprises of a building complex of a theatre and a connected 5-story operational building with a 700 m² plaza in-between.

Project Requirements
The striking, modern appearance of the theatre is due to the use of architectural concrete. The southern façade is one giant, concrete sculpture, incorporating irregular holes or ‘bubbles’, to replicate an imaginary stage curtain, while other façades are constructed using red-colored concrete panels.
HELIKA architecture and design studio was tasked with reworking a winning contest proposal to improve the fit of the design within the location and urban environment. The architects selected colored concrete to a specific shade of deep red as an architectural feature for certain façades. The façades needed to retain their color and integrity over the long term while being exposed to the elements.
Sika Solutions
The use of Sika ColorFlo® Liquid color pigments enabled the concrete supplier to accurately produce the red concrete color stipulated by the architect. This economical and permanent solution consists of pre-dispersed iron oxide, titanium dioxide and chromium oxide pigments containing high pigment solids in an aqueous base liquid. The resulting concrete has excellent long term color stability together with good resistance to UV radiation even with long exposure to adverse atmospheric conditions.
TBG Transportbeton Plzeň sro supplied 600 m³ of self-compacting concrete, incorporating Sika ColorFlo® Liquid color pigments to produce the façades that covered an area of 3,500 m².
