Ogmios City is an urban transformation project that has seen an under-utilized outlet center flourish into a vibrant and integrated quarter of the city. The 10,000 m² site is located a few kilometers from the center of Vilnius, Lithuania and has been transformed by DO Architects incrementally since 2013.
Ogmios City is a retail precinct, attracting visitors with destinations for shopping, eating and playing in a way that encourages dwelling. The urban elements of the site have been designed to ensure that a pedestrian-friendly environment is prioritized and that public spaces are both pleasant and functional. Older elements have been preserved with each modification, ensuring connection to place and familiarity are maintained. Each successive alteration has sought to reuse and integrate the original structure below rather than to erase it, respecting the history of the area and revealing the process of its evolution.

Use of Lunawood
Lunawood is used as a façade material in a variety of ways in Ogmios City. There is a restaurant with an untreated Thermowood façade, a shopping center with a beautiful painted grey finish and a white oiled Thermowood façade in a Zoo building.
About Lunawood Thermowood
Lunawood Thermowood is a sustainable wood material produced with natural timbers that have been modified with heat and steam to improve the properties of the wood and thereby expanding the range of applications where the product can be used. Thermowood is dimensionally stable, resistant to decay and resin-free. It can be used inside or outdoors, in any climate. Lunawood is a non-toxic natural product that is easy to machine and install. Thermally modified timber has natural brown tone, which naturally weathers over time to beautiful silver-gray patina if the wood is left untreated.
