A total of 6,000 square meters of Rodeca PC 2540-7 DecoColor translucent building elements have been used for the new ICE maintenance hall in Cologne.

The new hall is 450 meters long, 48 meters wide and 12.5 meters high and was built on in-situ concrete piles. The exterior of the longest continuous facade is characterized by a four-meter-high concrete base topped with Rodeca translucent panels.
The heights of the three individual areas are separated by traverse profiles. The zones are 2.55 meters, 2.50 meters, and 4 meters respectively. At the front ends of the hall, are access portals with gates where the trains enter and exit. Horizontally, the façade panels are subdivided by thermally separated traverse profiles.
Colors
Four different colors were combined on the outside
- Traffic red or DB red (RAL 3020)
- Black gray (RAL 7021)
- Window gray (RAL 7040)
- Opal traffic white (RAL 9016)
The inward layers of the panels were completely held in opal.

Since the color of the outer layers has a significant impact on the measured light transmission of the panels inside of the building, the color spectrum is predominantly in the range of achromatic colors.
