The Hollaender Manufacturing Company produces a wide array of architectural hand railing systems, from non-welded aluminum rails to stainless steel structural glass. Some of their best-known railing designs include Interna-Rail®, Speed-Rail®, and Newman by Hollaender™ (formerly known as Newman Brothers Railing).
Hollaender’s aluminum and stainless steel railing systems, with a variety of infill alternatives – from glass to acrylic to metal infill – are a popular alternative for hospitality applications such as nightclubs, casinos, theme parks, etc. across the US.
Mandalay Bay LIGHT Nightclub
This nightclub chose the interesting combination of Speed-Rail® with Carl Stahl Decorcable® infill. The Mandalay Bay LIGHT Nightclub was originally a joint venture of Cirque du Soleil and the Light Group. The design architect and owners wanted “ a warehouse look with industrial overtones” and selected the more industrial looking Speed-Rail® railing, coated in black.
Infill Materials
Infills are available in a wide variety of materials, all of which have been tested to meet the IBC code. Metal panels can be supplied in mesh, perforated or a more exotic pattern. Material for these metal panels ranges from aluminum to e-coated steel to stainless steel.
Hollaender offers resin panels in both PETG and acrylic and if glass is required, Hollaender offers laminated, tempered glass railings that are much safer than typical single sheet, monolithic glass.
When facilities want to be more aesthetically interesting, Hollaender has installed acrylic resin panels, or “ Art Glass” options. Acrylic panels offer more interest, a solid surface and some degree of translucency, and are unbreakable and less fragile than glass.
Finishes
Maintenance people report that a clear anodized finish on aluminum is far less work to maintain than typical welded, painted steel that is often used for budget reasons. Stainless steel, while more costly, offers the same low maintenance cost-benefit.
In handrail applications, which can carry a lot of traffic and have a lot of physical contact, Hollaender offers both anodized aluminum and stainless steel handrails. Stainless steel is the more durable choice for very heavy traffic applications.
In areas where egress lighting is an issue, Hollaender offers all their railing with LED light pods that meet egress lighting standards.
