Ceiling Light - Duo | Vibia

Duo ceiling lamp was designed by Ramos & Bassols for Vibia. The lamp combines the natural, warm appearance of Oakwood with the technical refinement of an aluminum metal wrap on the outside. The ceiling light is surface installed and provides all-around illumination. Vibia offers Duo in a collection of inverted-bowl silhouettes with both straight and angled options.

Material

Duo’s simple, circular silhouettes are formed of a veined oak timber interior that stands in contrast to its aluminum shell. This combination of sleek, high-tech metal and richly textural wood creates an intriguing material contrast.

Working with two very distinct materials; both with different thickness, presented technical challenges in production. Using sheet metal and a lathe to mold the wood allowed manufacturing precision and the ability to form the fixture’s outline.

Light

Incorporating LED technology was critical to the design of Duo. The knurled glass diffuser gives the illumination a natural effect, enhanced by the wood’s warm glow, while the exterior ensures an even distribution of light. Affixed to the ceiling, Vibia's Duo integrates into the architecture as if it were a skylight channeling the brightness from outside.
