Sinafers' new headquarters in São Paulo has been renovated with an ULMA-ventilated Facade. The industrialized facade system offers excellent thermal efficiency and combined with the quality and properties of Stoneo panels from ULMA, a material of great quality for the exterior cladding, became a key element in the success of the project.
Located in the neighborhood of Higienópolis, the largest city in Brazil, Sinafers occupies what used to be a large, regional-style, old house and has been transformed into a modern building with impressive large porticos, and a renovated facade making the different volumes very attractive.
SINAFER is an Iron, Metal, and Tool Machinery Industry Union based in the State of São Paulo. |
The facade cladding and the cladding for the front and side porticos of the building were provided by ULMA according to the design by the architects José Tabith and Thiago Nieves from the JT Arquitectura studio.
Challenges & Solutions
- Design Challenge
One of the challenges was to define the different sections of the project, because of this, three different colors of Stoneo panels were chosen with the same texture, installation system, and size. - Integration of Skins
The construction system was able to create enough space on the façade to integrate it with the glass skins that the architect selected for the open areas of the building. In addition, the façade's alignment with the porticos was complicated but was resolved efficiently with the industrialized system from ULMA. - Joint Alignment
Another challenge was to keep the joints aligned, on the façade and the porticos, contrasting with the changing panel colors. - The versatility of the auxiliary system
- The vertical anchoring and upright profiles provided by ULMA are sufficiently versatile to lean into the chamber and thus be able to create the necessary volume required in each facade area.
VENTILATED FACADE
A ventilated facade is a building cladding system that leaves a ventilated chamber between the coating and the insulation of a wall. It is considered the most efficient system for resolving the building’s insulation, eliminating the unwanted thermal bridges as well as the condensation problems and so achieving an excellent thermal-hydrometric behavior of the building.
This ventilated facade system provides solutions for the challenges that arose in this project as well as quick and efficient installation and thermal efficiency. The architects noted that working with ULMA was an asset to the project regarding the speed of installation, product quality, and finish.
