Project: Building for Operational Services - Terneuzen
Architect: Evert van Kampen
Location: Terneuzen, Netherlands
Built: Completed in 2011
Manufacturers: Rodeca GmbH
Project consulting and installation: Rodeca systems B.V.
Products Used: Translucent building elements - light-weight polycarbonate tongue and groove panels.
In 2011, Rodeca supplied translucent panels to the building for operational services in Terneuzen. The building of more than 10,000 square meters is the base for the field service and fire department of the municipality of Terneuzen, as well as the ambulance service of ZorgSaam Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.
The design concept by architect Evert van Kampen centers on vigilance, safety, transparency, and pride. Behind the striking flamed translucent façade sit numerous workspaces and offices and a designated area for equipment on the ground floor. In addition to the main building, large sheds have been built for municipal vehicles, workshops, a car wash and storage of material such as road salt.
The building allows for closer cooperation between the various operational services. Because of the joint housing, it is no longer necessary to work from several locations, thus spaces can be used more efficiently.
