Call for Submission: Great Asian Streets Symposium 2016

Street as both urban form and institution of human movement, economic transaction, social intercourse and political contestation arguably stands at the core of urbanisation in Asia. It offers a stage and provides a backdrop for the workings of the city in this process, and as an outcome of an increasingly complex urban pluralism also registers and embodies in its changing architecture many conflicts and compromises.

Call for Submissions: MaT(i)erre(s)

Under the name "MaT(i)erre(s) - about the connection between man and matters", this initiative invites you to share your experiences, theorical thoughts and eyesights on simple matters, in relation with body, space, urban areas, art, crafts, mind, socio-cultural, cosmogony, and science. These disciplines are called for setting in motion and in echo their actions and intuitions, to gather them soon in an « event-laboratory » where "doing" and "thinking" will be as one.

Call for Papers: Society of Architectural Historians 2017 Annual International Conference

The Society of Architectural Historians is now accepting abstracts for its 70th Annual International Conference in Glasgow, Scotland, June 7–11. Please submit an abstract no later than June 6, 2016, to one of the 32 thematic sessions, the Graduate Student Lightning Talks or the open sessions. The thematic sessions have been selected to cover topics across all time periods and architectural styles. SAH encourages submissions from architectural, landscape, and urban historians; museum curators; preservationists; independent scholars; architects; and members of SAH chapters and partner organizations.

Call for Submissions: Open Air Theatre (Sylvan) for Cherkasy City Park



The theatre was built in 1966-67. Now it is an abandoned municipal building. The theatre needs to be reconstructed/rebuilt taking into account current needs of the Cherkasy community. In summer 2015 our local volunteers team voiced the intention for revitalising Sylvan theatre and started a fundraising campaign. Thanks to the city community we have accumulated funds which will be the prize for this competition winner. We also polled participants of the fundraising campaign to discover their preferences for ways of the money application and for the concept of the future theatre. So Cherkasy citizens vote for the architecture projects competition. Requirements for projects are also based on the poll results.

CHART is a Nordic art and culture manifestation of the CHART ART FAIR, the leading art fair for contemporary art in the Nordic region. The aim is to build the strongest platform for showing, communicating, and integrating art and culture on an international level. Call for Applications: Dutch Design Summer School

Open Set is a two-week thematic program consisting of a series of intensive one or three day workshops, symposiums and film screenings, led by Dutch and international designers, artists and researchers. Our goal is to promote and enhance the social value of design by facilitating debates around the chosen theme from a rich diversity of perspectives, design trends, traditions, and cross-disciplinary cultural practices. Open Call for Proposals: BSA Space Exhibitions

BSA Space, Boston’s only center for architecture and design, seeks curatorial proposals for its 2018—2019 exhibition season. The deadline to submit is Friday, April 15, 2016. Major exhibitions run 4-6 months, and are intended to utilize all of the second floor gallery space. Guest curators will be given a budget of $30K-$70K, depending upon the size, scale and preparation, which will include all exhibition expenses, including materials, fabrication, installation, curator fees, and fees for any portion of this work contracted out.

Call for New Installations: RIBA's Summer Showcase ‘Constructing Communities’

During summer 2016, the RIBA will give RIBA Members, both practising architects and students, an opportunity to display their ideas and work across London between Peckham Levels and the RIBA headquarters at 66 Portland Place. Responding to the London Festival of Architecture theme of ‘Community’ the RIBA will exhibit projects that take a fresh look at how architectural structures, both permanent and temporary, can strengthen community engagement, from micro to macro scales. Prospective submissions may represent a variety of community ideals such as alternative housing arrangements, new co-working or co-habitating setups, mobile enterprises, or public spaces. RIBA will be looking for original projects that explore technical innovation, potential to instigate change, and the ways in which communities can be constructed with architecture. Experimentation and imaginative thinking are encouraged for the works submitted to the open call.
A shortlist will be presented in 2D, 3D or time-based media visualisations at Peckham Levels in south London – the iconic car park site well known for hosting Bold Tendencies and Frank’s Campari Bar.
