If you haven’t finished all your holiday shopping, and you need something for someone who loves both architecture and London then we might have the right gift for you. We recently received Matteo Pericoli’s London Unfurled. This accordion-style book folds out to a length of 25-feet with elevations of London on both sides of the Thames. The book is accompanied with an essay on the north side of the Thames by Iain Sinclair, one on the south by Will Self, and an afterword by Matteo Pericoli.

Unique Architecture, Unique Dining Experiences
This post is presented by S. Pellegrino, Fine Dining Lovers.
Restauranteurs are having a tougher time to please their customers, now turning into food aficionados. For the foodies, dining is more than just a gourmet, refined preparation. It’s all about the science of the food, where it comes from, how it is prepared, and dining becomes a full experience. In this aspect, the environment where the food is served has turned into a very important part of this experience.
In this post we are going to present to you restaurant projects that offer unique dining experiences, through innovative architecture.

In Progress: Surrey City Centre Library / Bing Thom Architects
The new Surrey City Centre Library, designed by Vancouver-based Bing Thom Architects (BTA), is set to open on September 24, 2011. This new building marks the next phase of a major civic investment in the area that will continue the transformation of downtown Surrey, from sprawling suburb to the Region’s next great downtown, which began with BTA’s Central City project. Creating dynamic environments that look to the future of Surrey is nothing new to BTA. Nearly a decade ago, the firm designed the incredibly vibrant Central City, which sits down the street from the new Surrey Library. The architectural and social innovation evident at Central City—a fusion of office space, a shopping center and a university—is further exemplified in BTA’s library design.

Presentation tips for Architects, Part II
This Inspiration Series is brought to you by Veer.com
As we discussed last week, presentations are very important for our profession. That’s the way we relate with our clients, and also with our colleagues. A good presentation could get your project approved, or quickly dismissed if you don’t plan it right. For example, a presentation to a client compared to a presentation for a group of architects is very different, even if the project you need to communicate is the same.
On the previous article we shared some tips based on Garr “Presentation Zen” Reynolds on how to prepare a presentation for architects. Now, we are going to share with you some tips on how to deliver your presentation. This is the most important part, as no matter how good the slides are, you should be the one in control of the presentation and not the large images on your background.

Generic City / Milos Zivkovic
In the time of globalization, expansion of technologies and explosion of information, society takes different shape. People and cultures mix and the city becomes an universal place. Global society demands the perfect city and the economy requires speed. Old cities preserve their history and their mysteries, while the new city emerges. Living space shrinks, and then “leaks“ to the other parts of our life. In time we refer to everything as “living space“. But, what if that is also compressed over the limit? Do then the whole cities, countries and continents become our personal? Does the city then dematerialise and becomes the very essence of a global, generic society?
The city becomes the information exchange system.
