Ordinary Architecture

10th month of the "12 Months” project will be curated by Meganom architectural studio and untitled architecture at Library for Architecture in Yerevan.
“Ordinary Architecture” is a curated program exploring the essence and quality of everyday spaces where people live and interact daily.
The main idea is to speak about the utopian city of Yerevan and make noticeable the layer of Ordinary architecture.

At LFA we are focusing on the research of texts supporting the theory and its link to professional practices. In Italian tradition theory is explicitly implemented into the practice of architects and designers.

Meganom bureau and untitled architecture invited Italian studios to LFA, who will present in both formats: offline and online.

Public Stages: International Lecture Series USFQ 2023

Since the end of the nineteenth century, the planning of cities has been understood as the discipline that establishes guidelines to project architecture for human occupation, with a focus on rationality and functionalism. Nevertheless, the city is a system of many layers and folds, constructed through the interaction of natural, cultural, socioeconomic, and political forces. This choreography, with a variety of purposes and different degrees of synchronization, creates architecture that serves both as shelter and context.Architecture, therefore, does not limit itself to the production of objects but rather appears as a field of study between and through disciplines, called upon to contribute to the organization of those forces that composepublic stages, the space where collective itineraries meet and intertwine. These stages have existed historically.

The University of Texas School of Architecture Lecture Series: Tod Williams

Tod Williams is a Founding Partner of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects | Partners. Their practice is known for their humanistic approach to architecture primarily for institutional clients such as museums, schools, and nonprofits. Prioritizing experience above all, their designs choreograph light, texture, solidity, and a deep sensitivity to the places for which they’re built. While the work has grown in scale, the foundational principles of the practice remain intact: “to serve, to make good marks on the earth, to acknowledge the work comes from not just two hands, but many hands, and, fundamentally, architecture is an act of profound optimism.”

ScaLIurbani Mediterranean Connections

Following the great success of the first three editions held from 2019 to 2021, the idea of a fourth ScaLIurbani 2022 event was launched to confirm the annual frequency of this important cultural event. The theme chosen for next year is Mediterranean Connections or the Connections created by the Mediterranean and, with them, ties, relationships, Architectures and stories related to it; a theme that has as its objective the involvement of the countries bordering our sea through their projects and achievements as well as with the free interpretation of the relationship between the sea and its borders; the relationship between Architecture, City, Territory and Culture of the various countries, therefore, becomes a trait d’union between the various places in the Mediterranean basin.
Mediterranean as a bridge between East and West, between South and North; a basin that is not only a geographical place but also a changing collective imagination that contributes to influencing the perception of space in the various countries bordering it. Architecture becomes that element and that bond that can also be shared through the diversity of places in the Mediterranean which are sometimes represented as similar or close, while others, on the other hand, as aliens and strangers due to social, cultural and economic differences.
The event, of international scope, aims to be (as in previous editions) an opportunity to return to express, through Architecture, the strong desire for the quality of the space in which we live, a wealth to be protected, to be renewed and create.
