Seoul Metropolitan Government announces a call for entry as below for the architectural design competition aimed to foster Hanyangdoseong On-site Museum in the Hoehyeon Section at the Foot of Namsan Mountain.

The world is witnessing resurgence in the popularity of vinyl records. The vinyl renaissance reminds us that records, unlike downloaded digital music files, are tangible objects that can be collected and experienced in a more tangible and personal way. In 2014, some 900,000 vinyl albums were sold in the UK alone, indicating that digital is not the only way to listen to music.

It’s LIQUID Group is selecting all interesting architectural projects, photos, paintings, video art, installations/sculptures and performance art works to include in the next event:

CONTEMPORARY SHANGHAI – It’s LIQUID International Art Show, international exhibition of architecture, photography, painting, video art, installation and performance art, will be held in Shanghai, in the prestigious VIA Shanghai Art Space, from March 25 to April 15, 2017.

Selection is open to video art, photography, painting, sculpture/installation, architectural and design projects, art performance and experimental dance.

The number of works you can submit is unlimited. The participation in the festival requires an entry fee only for selected artworks.

It is these currencies, which give architecture its agency, its authority and life. And yet, despite the varied modes of its circulation, the majority of architecture’s discursive knowledge reaches only a familiar audience. While contemporary means of information production and dispersal continue to exponentially grow and quicken, the circle of professional and discursive associations remains confined. Circulation, distribution, and access to knowledge are not exclusive matters of the discipline. Rather they extend past architectural limits to catalyze inquiries into hidden geographies and infrastructure, restricted access, and equity.

Buillding Brooklyn Awards is the annual architectural and economic development competition sponsored by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. All newly built or renovated projects on the borough of Brooklyn, New York City, are invited to submit for consideration by a jury of architects, real estate professionals, real estate press and city planners.

Ragdale, the nationally acclaimed artists’ residency in Lake Forest, Illinois invites architects, designers and artists to apply for the opportunity to design, build, and exhibit the 2017 Ragdale Ring, a temporary outdoor theatre to house summer concerts, performances, and events. Ragdale seeks proposals for a full-scale project and installation that consider contemporary, fanciful and functional interpretations of the original Ragdale Ring, designed by architect Howard Van Doren Shaw in 1912 as a garden theatre.

The Stone Barn Meditation Camp architecture competition is a partnership with SRED property developers to create a multipurpose recreational space. Participants are tasked with presenting ideas for a venue, which focuses on wellness tourism and offers holistic outlets such as meditation and yoga.

The Jeff Harnar Award for Contemporary Architecture is now accepting submissions for the 2017 award cycle. This is the 10th year of this award that honors the late Jeff Harnar, known for his groundbreaking design in contemporary architecture in Santa Fe, NM. The Jeff Harnar Award is a prestigious award in the architectural profession and offers one of the top prize amounts in the country, awarding the winner a $10,000 cash prize.

Radical Innovation, a platform promoting disruptive, industry-
changing ideas within the hotel space, announces the opening of the annual Radical Innovation Award for 2017. Professionals and students are invited to submit their ideas online January 17th through April 22nd.

Architecture Sans Frontières International (ASF-Int) Award was founded in the purpose of sharing the most efficient solutions developed by architects globally to the many social, environmental and economic challenges facing the built environment. The goal of the award is to promote those solutions among the design profession and the general public, which will encourage an exchange of ideas and challenge the profession to develop the construction of social facilities and infrastructure.

Architecture is no longer just a product of design and construction but also a vehicle of a social action. Communication and mediation are key to this process. The role of architects has to do more with interdisciplinary teamwork than with authorship.

The ARCASIA Awards for Architecture, which was restructured and re-branded to AAA in 2013, is aimed at acknowledging exemplary work done by architects working in Asia. In so doing, it encourages the sustenance of the Asia spirit, the development and improvement of the Asian built environment and enhancement of the awareness of the role of architecture and architects in the socio-economic and cultural life of Asian countries. With this Award, the intention is also to demonstrate that good architecture is a major component of the positive influence on the human environment, and that physical development in Asia need not

Tamayouz Excellence Award is delighted to invite students of Architecture / Urban / Architecture Technology / Landscape Design worldwide to register and submit their Graduation Projects. An independent international jury will review all entries and will select the winners of Tamayouz International Award 2017. Prizes include: An MSc Scholarship for 2 Years at the Polytechnic University of Milan, 2 scholarships for the Stadslab (European Urban Design Laboratory) master classes, Medals for 7 Honorable Mentions, supervisor the Year Medal, University of the Year Medallion. The city architect of Antwerp, Christian Rapp, organises an international urban design competition on the future development of Linkeroever (the Left Bank). The Left Bank is an exceptional part of Antwerp. It is an urban district, born from a patchwork of plans that were only partially executed. Today, high-rise housing blocks are situated next to villas and zones for recreation. A major asset of Linkeroever is the open and green character. On the other hand it is a residential area with few mixed use. Recently, Linkeroever has been given renewed attention thanks to projects such as Regatta, IGLO-Europark, masterplan Sint-Anneke, etc. However, a general framework ensuring the connection between these and future projects does not exist.

The artist residency SPOT 13 offers the opportunity to artists from all the world to access the artistic and cultural scene in Cartagena, known by its human heritage (UNESCO) and main cultural and touristic district of Colombia. Cartagena has been the center of Colombian tourism and represents one of the main Colombian cultural heritage from colonial Spanish times.

The Urban Futures Studio proudly presents the Post-Fossil City Contest. We are calling on artists, designers, architects, urbanists, authors, photographers, filmmakers and all-around creative thinkers to imagine a city that is no longer reliant on fossil fuels.
