Since their creation in 1991, the CEMEX Awards have rewarded projects that propose new architectural, conceptual, technical, and aesthetic solutions. With 27 years of history, the event has become a reference for innovation in the construction industry, with the number of projects registered, as well as the quality of the entrants, increasing year by year.

In 2017, more than 500 works participated in the Mexico Edition, 18 of which were finalists, such as the Ciudad de los Archivos, Centro Cultural Comunitario Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, and Torre Reforma in Mexico City. Meanwhile, the International Edition featured 45 projects from 17 countries, such as the Vitrolles Media Library in France and the Pavlov Arqcheopark in Czech Republic.

• Residential Housing: Houses, Residences and mid- to high-rise Housing Complexes.
• Economic Housing: Houses, Prototypes and Housing Developments for the popular sector.
• Building: Institutional, Educational, Commercial, Religious, Labor, Government, Industrial, Hospital and Mixed Use Buildings. Eligible projects include: Schools, Churches, Offices, Convention Centers, Hospitals, Banks, Restaurants, Shopping Centers, Industrial, among others.
• Infrastructure: Roads, Airports, Stations, Transportation Systems, Dams, Bridges, Highways or Master Plans.
• Collective Space: Spaces that transcend from the private to the public and foster interactions between users and that promote the sense of the community. Eligible projects include: Sports Centers, Cultural Centers, Plazas, Parks, Urban Designs, Urban Regeneration, Community Development and similar.

Special Awards

• Universal Design: Projects that show accessibility no matter the technical, cognitive or physical capabilities of the user. That implies anyone can enter, transit and stay in a safe and autonomous way.
• Sustainable Building: Projects that have used bioclimatic design criteria and selected the appropriate materials, and in which during the construction process, the environmental impact has been limited and natural resources are optimized in their use.
• Innovation in Construction: Buildings that achieved progress and improvement in construction processes, with the application of innovation and technology concepts, promoting creative and constructive techniques applicable to future projects.
• Social Value: Projects that directly improve the quality of life of the community and generate community bonds and self-management schemes that improve coexistence and social welfare, enhancing the conditions where they carry out their daily lives.

Requirements

1. The project should be based in Mexico.
2. Should have been finished between January 1st and December 31st, 2017.
3. At least 50% of the total concrete/cement used should have been CEMEX concrete or cement.
4. The registration process must be completed no later than May 4th, 2018.

2. Go to the "Participa" section and click "Inscribir Obra."
3. Register as a user.
4. Click "Inscribir obra nueva."
5. Select the category in which your project fits.
6. Fill out the general and specific data of your project.
7. Choose the special prizes which you would like to submit your project in.
8. Attach the graphic material.
