Open Call: Architecturally Educated

Architecturally Educated invites you to submit content to a new publication. The folly of architecturally education has begun to crumble. Overworked, underpaid and some may argue unnecessary, the profession of architecture has many questions to ask over the next 10 years. We believe these questions should first be posed to Architectural Education. An old decrepit model little changed since 1958, Architectural Education sets students up to fail, teaching very few practical skills which can be implemented in the real world. Instead it wallows in a void, somewhere between artistic representation and narrative’. Any quick google search for the term “Architectural Education” would reveal the state of the system with all top results returning calls for upheaval and overhaul.

The AE want to pose the questions to students of architecture or those who have graduated, how has the current system affected you? We are looking for personal accounts of your experiences within architecture. Good, Bad or indifferent, all stories are relevant.

All Submissions will become part of the debut publication, title The AE. All submissions will be treated as anonymous in the publication, however all authors will be credited. Submissions will also be placed on the upcoming blog release as a virtual record of submission.

Blog Release: 20th November

Content should reflect an experience of architectural education, The AE will take special interest in any following the subjects below.

• The Studio as a cult
• Mental Health
• The Crit 
• The Role of the tutor
• Addiction in Schools of Architecture

Any content submitted should be a minimum of 500 words, with any references cited. Graphic submissions are also welcome. By submitting content you are agreeing for your work to be published in any format by Architecturally Educated
