The architectural competition for Kulbroen (the Coal Bridge) is on and teams can now apply for the pre qualification. Please note that the material is in Danish, so if foreign teams want to sign up it would be a good idea to find someone here that master the language.
- Aarhus – second city
- Aarhus is developing rapidly these years and has become a strong example of the second city phenomenon
- The city is really creating an own identity these years and never in history has Aarhus developed as fast as in recent years, after the recession.
The city is already known for ARoS (Aarhus art museum, that just launched a new Triennial). MoMu (Moesgaard Museum) an impressive historic museum with extraordinary architecture. The Aarhus University that has been named one of the worlds most beautiful universities. The new harbor front Aarhus Ø is rising and just recently the winner was named for the new Architecture School. On top of that Aarhus right now is the European Capital of Culture 2017.
The Coal Bridge project will not only be the beginning of the development for the entire Aarhus Sydhavn (southern habour), but will be a landmark for Aarhus and Denmark.
The competition has three rounds:
- Pre qualification
- Up to six selected teams will each get 150.000 Dkr for their proposals
- The final selected teams will have another 250.000 Dkr for the final proposals
The winner will be published February 2018.
