i2a istituto internazionale di architettura, Lugano, in collaboration with the Hochschule Luzern - master Technik & Architektur and the CCU – Chinese Culture University, Taipei, with the patronage of Comune di Agno (Cantone Ticino, Switzerland), is glad to present the international summer school islands, atolls and archipelagos of Lake Lugano, which will take place in Agno form September 5th to September 11th. Participants will receive 3 ETCS credits form the Hochschule Luzern.
Large infrastructures are being planned or built at an increasingly rapid pace, but their impact is already evident long before they reach completion.
Excavation of tunnels and construction of major road axes produce a huge quantity of waste material. Those in charge of construction works have a difficult decision to make, namely where to deposit and how to dispose of construction waste and debris.
Local institutions have conceived a quite ambitious project that will be analyzed and debated during our Summer School: the creation of islets near the Vedeggio river mouth, in Lake Lugano. What will be the impact of this project? How will it affect the daily life of the local population? What, if any, are the possible alternatives?
The summer school this year offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of such new interventions, challenging participants to confront themselves with the different topographies, landscapes, and infrastructural elements existing in a real setting.
The program aims to investigate the real, to understand and integrate the many facets and realities of territory transformation into a comprehensive coherent approach.
Participants will be awarded by 3 ECTS credits
