Lumion believes in rethinking tradition. That’s why they designed architecture software that’s beautiful, fun, fast and easy to use.
Now, Lumion is challenging architecture and design students in the U.S. to rethink tradition by redesigning some of the world’s most iconic buildings. The winner will receive $5,000 cash, a full version of Lumion Pro 7, and a trip to Amsterdam. You can find out how to join here.
New York, Rome, Sydney, London, Dubai. All are cities defined by unique buildings that represent a specific moment in time, yet are timeless.
Many consider these buildings to be exemplars with little room for improvement. After all, how do you alter the beauty of the Taj Mahal? How do you improve the art deco design of the Chrysler building? What more could be done to amplify the stunning detail of the Sagrada Familia?
Still, this is exactly what Lumion is asking you to do. Lumion wants you to use Lumia software to completely reimagine the architectural icons of the world.
The Challenge
Open to all architecture, landscape architecture, construction engineering, interior design, or other design or construction students in the United States, the Lumion team is challenging you to choose a well-known, iconic building of your choice and put a new spin on it using Lumion software.
Your alterations can range from the small and superficial to the radical by modifying form, function, color, space or place in time.
What would the Empire State Building look like in another color or using different materials? What if the London Shard had been designed for San Francisco? How would you renovate the Colosseum with a 21st-century edge? You can radically change or just tweak a design. It’s up to you!
Produce an original design and visualisation by uploading your entry by September 5th, 2016.
