Winners of the Inaugural China Tall Building Awards

The China International Exchange Committee for Tall Buildings (CITAB) and the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) have announced the winners of their inaugural China Tall Building Awards. Four buildings, including two designed by Zaha Hadid and Kengo Kuma, were chosen as China's best tall buildings. Other winners were recognized for their innovation, success within the urban environment, and construction excellence.

"With the support of the Architectural Society of China and the Architectural Society of China Shanghai, the first year of this regionally focused awards program was very successful, with numerous high-quality projects entering into the running under six categories of recognition," said CITAB and CTBUH.

Best Tall Building China: Asia Pacific Tower & Jinling Hotel, Nanjing / P&T Group

Best Tall Building China: Bund SOHO, Shanghai / von Gerkan, Marg and Partners Architects

Best Tall Building China: Hainan Rd. Lot 10, Hongkou District, Nanjing / Kengo Kuma and Associates

Best Tall Building China: Wangjing SOHO, Beijing / Zaha Hadid Architects

China Urban Habitat Award: Jing An Kerry Centre, Shanghai

China Construction Award: Hang Lung Plaza, Shanghai

China Innovation Award: Mega-Suspended Curtain Wall, Shanghai Tower, Shanghai / Gensler

Outstanding Achievement Award: Dasui Wang, ECADI

Dasui Wang, ECADI, has been granted the 2016 China Outstanding Achievement Award, having played a design leadership role in many of China’s tallest and most iconic buildings from the past three decades. Mr. Wang is the country’s foremost thought leader on the design and implementation of supertall buildings, with experience in both structural engineering and architecture. Among his greatest achievements are the Oriental Pearl Television Tower, CCTV Headquarters, Shimao International Plaza, Shanghai World Financial Center, Tianjin World Financial Center, and Shanghai Tower.
