Every year the international A’ Design Award and Competition announces an arts, architecture and design ranking of countries based on the number of A’ Design Awards won by each country over the last six years. The A’ Design Award recognizes prominent designers and architects as well as architecture offices and businesses from countries around the world, with the 2015 awards featuring winners from 83 different nations.
The WDR – World Design Rankings aim to contribute to global design culture by advocating and highlighting good design, and by providing a snapshot of the state-of-art and design potentials of countries worldwide by highlighting their creative strengths, design weaknesses and available opportunities. The list becomes increasingly important each year as the number of participants increase, and the data becomes more relevant and reliable. The latest rankings are based on over a thousand participants who indicated their countries in order to support them in the World Design Rankings.
Countries are ranked using a special ranking algorithm based on the quality of awards won, with higher design award achievements, such as a Platinum design award, contributing more than a Gold award. The Architectural category ranking is currently led by countries such as Japan, Brazil, the United States, China, Hong Kong, and Mexico, as well as Lebanon, Iran and Kuwait where construction industries are booming and expanding.
