Description from the artist: The purpose of this project was to illustrate some of the most relevant historic and touristic sites in Curitiba and show the diversity of the city; starting with historical constructions like the Paiol Theatre, passing through iconic sites like the Botanical garden and Oscar Niemeyer museum, and ending with the parks and forests that mark the daily routine in Curitiba.
In terms of aesthetics, I sought to emphasize the unique characteristics of each location. The structures in the illustrations are all geometric/symmetric following the flat style, but the finishes (light/shadow/reflections/textures) I did freehand to give a more humanistic appearance to the work. Finally, the color palette used adds a playful and charming atmosphere to the setting.
My goal was to make a contribution to the appreciation of local heritage, bringing attention to the fact that we are surrounded by art, culture, and history -- we just have to take a moment to break away from the routine and observe our surroundings.
