Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) and the Italian Trade Commission are proud to announce the 2016 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition Call for Entries. Now in its 23rd year, the contest is open to North American architects and designers who use Italian ceramic tiles in their institutional, residential and commercial/hospitality spaces. From corporate headquarters with ventilated porcelain facades and hospitals utilizing antibacterial ceramic floors to summer homes using decorative ceramics, Ceramics of Italy is looking for all types of inspiring projects featuring Italian ceramics.
Prizes:
Winners in each category will receive a cash prize of $4,000 and a five-day trip to Bologna, Italy to attend CERSAIE 2016 - the world's largest exhibition of ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings - joining a delegation of top consumer and design journalists. Ceramics of Italy will award an additional $1,000 to the winning contractor/distributor team in each category.
Rules:
The competition is open to all North American architects and interior designers. Domestic and international new construction and renovation projects completed between January 2011 and January 2016 are eligible for entry.

Criteria:
A panel of design experts will judge the projects based on their creativity, functionality, sustainability and aesthetic appeal. The official criterion for the jury includes: overall design of the project, innovative use of tile, tile design, quality of installation, degree that tile enhances the setting and the project's sustainable attributes.
Submission Deadline:
Submissions must be completed no later than January 15, 2016. Winners will be notified in March and officially announced at the Ceramics of Italy Press Conference at Coverings, held April 18-21, 2016 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.
