This is the first design exhibition that incorporates three generations of Iranian architects in one event to design and build chairs.
A chair, as an object, lies somewhere on the scale between interior architecture and a product. It can be made by anyone as a response to the primary need for “a place to sit.” But, on the other hand, a professional designer can create a structure to respond to human needs, using a comprehensive framework, technology and geometry.
Objet (as a design platform) looks at the chair from the point of view of an architect. The exhibition begins with a historical perspective looking at ancient architecture and then moving into the Renaissance period, discussing the theory of the universal man and Leonardo Da Vinci as a leading designer-engineer. It concludes with contemporary architecture.
As a continuation of this point of view, Objet invited some of the highlighted Iranian architects of recent years to re-study and design the Chair as an object. The idea is to try to develop a reciprocal sensation and challenge between architects and Iranian people, opening a new path from idea to production.
The upcoming exhibition is a point of departure to find the current relationship between the chair as an object and as part of architecture, as well as trying to represent the hidden skills and abilities of Iranian architects for other scales of design, and finally to think of a future with more interaction between architects and people.
