A few months ago, we announced that Izaskun Chinchilla Architects emerged as one of two winners of FIGMENT’s international “City of Dreams” pavilion competition in New York. Their proposal entitled “Organic Growth” is slated for assembly on Governors Island this summer, but they need your help! Due to the split funding of selecting two winners and FIGMENT’s non-profit status, the design team has launched a kickstarter campaign to make their proposal a reality through public contributions.
Learn more about how you can get involved, after the break.
Relying on social media to spread the word about the Organic Growth Pavilion, the kickstarter program stresses the importance of community involvement in making the installation possible. Because the Organic Growth Pavilion is made entirely of recycled resources, both material and financial contributions are welcomed. As a thank-you for monetary assistance, donors will be recognized as sponsors in the project acknowledgements and receive a gift, ranging from a personalized card incorporated into the final design to a party for 15 people.
In order to construct the Organic Growth Pavilion, the team must collect enough to cover not only the costs of assembly (storage, transportation, travel, organization of service), but also the installation's maintenance and eventual disassembly. This amounts to $20,000 in pledges by April 25, 2015.
