Montreal-based practice Provencher_Roy has been selected to receive the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s (RAIC) 2015 Architectural Firm Award. Chosen for their consistent, high quality work that spans 32 years, the 150-person firm was also praised by the jury for their dedication to mentorship.
“Provencher_Roy was chosen for the breadth and consistently high quality of work over many years,” said the five-member jury. “They have worked with a broad range of clients and project types. The firm is recognized for its collaborative work and the excellence of its working and peer-learning environment.”
“Provencher_Roy has played an important mentoring role that has helped establish the next generation of architects,” the jury added. “In addition, they have maintained an important and continuing involvement in advocacy, education, and community. They engage with the public and promote the profession in the community at large.”
The multidisciplinary firm, founded by architects Claude Provencher, FIRAC, and Michel Roy, FIRAC, in 1983, is known for their work in industrial and urban design. Some of their most notable projects include the Revival of the Casino of Montréal (2014); the renovation of the Ritz-Carleton Hotel in Montreal (2013); Claire and Marc Bourgie Quebec and Canadian Art Pavilion at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (2011); University of Montreal Biodiversity Centre (2010), McGill University Life Sciences Complex (2009), and Jean Lesage International Airport in Quebec City (2008).
