The Graz Architecture Diploma Award choose the best diploma projects from Graz University of Technology. The jury, Robert Hösl (Herzog & de Meuron), Kathrin Aste (Aste Architecture), Florian Fischer (Fischer Architekten) and journalist/curator/designer Lilli Hollein spent nearly nine hours of intense discussion to select the four winning entries out of the 31 nominees.

Rethinking the Perimetral, a former motorway bridge in the centre of Rio de Janeiro, aims at establishing an identity of social coexistance in a mixed living area.
2nd prize / Tina Kimmerstorfer / Title: A thermal spa at Bulbjerg, Denmark / Supervisor: Prof. Neuwirth
Developing from the Bulbjerg chalk rock and a bunker from World War II, located on Denmark’s coast, a thermal spa suceeds in transforming the specific atmospheric quality of the site and the massivity of the bunker, reintroducing the pre-war usage of the site.
3rd prize / Peter Leidlmayer / Title: Raval, Raval – Urban Ghetto or Diversity of Cultures? / Supervior: Prof. Zinganel
Following extensive on-site research, “Raval, Raval” presents a new urbanistic approach which respects and promotes Barcelona’s cultural groups by creating sensitive spatial constellations.
Special Prize / Andreas Goritschnig / Title: Liman LAB. A MANUAL FOR A SYMBIOTIC TRANSFORMATION. Towards a New Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina / Supervisor: Prof. Loenhart
Instead of the iconographic shape intended for the competition entries for a new Museum of Contemporary Art Novi Sad, “Liman Lab Manual” develops a processual transformation derived from the cultural network preexisting at the site, characterized by a dynamic and lively productivity.
