The search for the 2014 Young Architect of the Year Awards (YAYA), organised by BDOnline, has begun. Now in its 16th year, YAYA "recognises the most promising new architectural practice in the European Union." Open to fully qualified architects who have been practising for twelve years or less, the winner of this year's YAYA will be announced at the Architect of the Year Awards gala dinner on the 2nd December 2014 at The Brewery, London.
According to the organisers, "the unique judging process involves internationally renowned architects and critics and results in one of the most rigorous and stimulating competitions around." Requiring A1 presentation panels (submitted as PDFs) consisting of between two and four projects, either built or unbuilt, entrants are also required to film a three minute video explaining why they should win.
Finalists from the 2013 YAYAs included RCKa, ONO Architectuur, Studio Weave, and HAT Projects. Spanish practice [ARQUITECTURIA] scooped the award. All projects can be seen in the 2013 Online Exhibition.
To be in for a chance of receiving the prestigious accolade you must submit your entry before the 12th September. Find out more about the criteria and judging process here.
