IE School of Architecture and Design has reached an agreement with WAYRA TELEFÓNICA to organize a Design Challenge with the students of the Master in Work Space Design.
The challenge will consist in looking for ideas to re-design their astonishing 12.000 square foot premises located in the 8th floor of the historic building of Telefónica in Gran Vía, the heart of Madrid.
WAYRA is a start-up accelerator belonging to IT giant TELEFÓNICA, with presence in more than twelve countries through their network of WAYRA Academies, where they host and mentor young startups for a year.
The challenge will consist in finding ideas to redesign their premises in an effective, flexible and attractive way that suits the needs and expectations of the young companies that are being developed within, along with the WAYRA staff.
The challenge and the work by students will be monitored by Primo Orpilla and Verda Alexander, Co-founders and Principals of Studio O+A, the San Francisco-based design firm that has delivered some of the most ground-breaking workspaces in the Silicon Valley, like the Facebook, Microsoft or AOL Headquarters.
Primo and Verda will be visiting WAYRA with the students, showing firsthand how top professionals deal with real life commissions, and how the approach towards design processes is handled by two of the leading voices of workplace design.
