The site is surrounded by roads on two sides (East and South) and the “campo da festa” on its west side.So we opted for a neutral solution and closed towards East Side and opened to the “campo da festa” which also give us an adequate sunlight to use the playgrounds (in the afternoon).
It´s a single storey building in order to allow easier access for users with special requirements. This solution is possible due to the plot is substantially horizontal and it has loose dimensions to accommodate the building.
It builds on the condition of the parcel corner to generate convenient access for vehicles of parents, without hindering the flow of traffic from access roads. To do this we project a small roundabout for access road, where also will be located the teachers´ parking.
The volumetry of the school is designed as a children construction game, as a sum of colored pieces.First was established organization to achieve that the school would work perfectly. Then We gave shape and color to each function, and finally when we had gotten all the tiles from the game, We joined them by a corridor, building the final result.
We tried that every space were flooded with light to seem spacious and bright. The corridor is opened through windows to the gardens placed between the volumes.
As a result the building looks modern, fun and expressive. Each function is reflected outside, easily understandable and above all are based only in order and functionality criteria.
