Erika Mann Elementary School / Die Baupiloten Following the successful modernization of the Erika-Mann Elementary School in the Utrechter Strasse 25/27 – 13347 Berlin, the Baupiloten have now designed the building’s interior for all-day use. With new seating-landscapes and worlds of recreation, the Baupiloten – together with the schoolchildren – expanded upon the concept of a comfortable learning environment to include the school’s hallways and classrooms (read more…)

University College Ostfold Halden / Reiulf Ramstad Architects The key notion of the architectural strategy is the location’s natural features and the use of a limited material palette. The project is situated in an old “culturscape” and special attention is paid to integrate it into its surroundings. St Edward’s University New Residence and Dining Hall / Alejandro Aravena There were 2 debates running in parallel in this project. One more explicit, declared in various documents and that were the actual programmatic requirements to be addressed. The other one, that even though was named in some documents as “compliance with Master Plan” was far less explicit and came out mainly in the meetings: it was the question of the language and appearance of the building and its relation to the old buildings of the campus (read more…)

University of Pontevedra Campus / Irisarri + Piñera In the planning of the Campus of Pontevedra and the buildings of the faculty of education sciences and the CATRI (centro de apoyo a la transferencia de resultados de investigación, Transference of investigation results support center), those geometries shaping “local traces” and a nature still with potential, superput on the intention of creating an atmosphere that results from the permeability (read more…)

Clapham Manor Primary School / dRMM Clapham Manor Primary School had become a victim of its own success; pupil numbers had grown, placing considerable pressure on successful delivery of curriculum within the restrictions of the original building. dRMM was asked to consider the provision of additional learning spaces within the site that would support both learning and play (read more…)
