This proposal for a Hotel and Spa was designed by Igor Brożyn. Located in an open landscape in Gdynia, Poland, this project has the advantage of the seclusion of a natural setting for its visitors.
The site of this hotel is located between a steep slope, which provides an open view, and a path that leads to the sea. To clearly separate the private space from the public, the slope was extended so that it smoothly becomes the roof above the ground level. The public features of the hotel, which include the reception hall, restaurant, spa entrance, and cafe are placed under the green roof so that they are easily accessible from the street.
The main entrance is located in the only corner of the building. The rooms and spa facilities are placed in volumes above the roof level in a private zone with direct access to the forest. Courtyards were created to illuminate the functions on ground level to attract a social and cultural interaction among the visitors. Each of the ground level functions as its own patio. The layout of patios and blocks refers to the urban structure of the district. The material used on the facade is wood, which occurs on the nearby pier and historical buildings in the district.
